Rev. Timothy Wright Critically Injured in Car Accident

with 2 comments

Rev. Timothy Wright, an acclaimed gospel artist and renowned New York pastor was critically injured on Friday after a driver heading the wrong way on I-80 collided with his vehicle. Rev. Wright’s wife, Betty, was killed and their grandson was also critically injured.

Right away, some folks are going to take a cynical view of this tragedy and question what Rev. Wright and his family were doing behind the scenes to warrant such a punishment from God. Some are going to swoon about the Lord moving in mysterious ways.

The truth is, no one can ever really speak to the Lord’s plans or motivations. To do so in his name because the victim is a man of God is perhaps the most non-sensical thing anyone can do. Reverend, parishioner or heathen, God has designs on each and every one of us. It’s human nature to want to peek at the blueprint, but its just not possible.

What Would Jesus Do? If You Have to Ask….

without comments

…then you probably shouldn’t be doing it. I remember when the WWJD bracelets first cam out and were super hot. It was like a hip way to show spirituality and a sense of morality. But then it became so hip that people were wearing them to the clubs. Folks were cursing people out at the Wal-Mart with and pulling the bracelets back getting ready for the drama.

But even if you don’t fit into one of these ghetto-fabulous categories, unless you are in your house in front of a Bible, chances are you are doing something Jesus would not do.

And that’s not always your fault. It’s just an indictment of how the world is today. Too many distractions and plenty of time for them. If you really asked yourself what would Jesus do, the answer you would logically come up with is saving someone’s soul, helping the needy in great numbers, condemning evil, that kind of stuff.

And while we often find time to perform variations of these miracles every now and again, Jesus was about that work 24-7. Could you really see yourself abandoning your family, all of your possessions, all of your education and desires, all for the advancement of the kingdom of God?

If you can’t, then you realize that there ain’t no way you could do what Jesus does. If you could, then most of the world would be trying to find you. And some wristbands.
